First Day of Summer Vacation

This is the kids' first real day of summer vacation. Friday was their last day and somehow the weekend doesn't count as much.

I always have such high hopes for summer vacation -- that the kids will still keep reasonable sleeping hours, that they will use some of their extra time to get in additional piano practicing, that we'll visit zoos, museums, parks; that we'll take long walks by lakes and skip stones or something. In other words, that we fill the days with summery activities and educational opportunities and family time and visiting friends and not spend most of our time in front of a screen of some sort or bickering with each other.
